Amtrak 138 leads the Amtrak Crescent, train #19 Southbound thru the town of Breman, Georgia USA. This is about as boring as American locomotive get, so I'll be posting better ones soon.

Boring? you're joking are'nt you? these Genesis Class Locos are fantastic, although their original Amtrak livery was far better than this insipid scheme. I remember the publicity photos of Bill Clintons presidential train with these Locos and stock decked out in flags, and all in stripey & silver Amtrak livery, Woderfull!
Am I right in thinking the Amtrak Crescent had its origins with the Southern Crescent of the Norfolk Southern?

Yes in deedy Chris, it does. It really derives from 2 seperate trains... The Southerner, and The Crescent Limited of the Southern Rwy, NOT N'folk Southern. Southern combined them in the 60's IIRC. The Crescent wasn't a completely Southern train tho. It was handed off to A&WP/WofA for the trip from ATL to Montgomery. And BTW, to ME, a devout Steam Nut, yes, it's boring. As most diesels are. I do think the Genesis would look better paired butt to butt instead of elephant style.

Chris here again, thanks for the information regarding the Amtrack Crescent,
I can't agree with your statement that 'Diesels are boring'tho. To me all forms of Rail Traction are interesting, though I don't care much for industrial narrow gauge. I live in North East England (UK) and have had an interest in American Trains (and other Nationalities) for years. To me the Amtrak stock is very stylish, particularly those square looking E60 Electrics. I have a HO scale Bachmann E60 in Amtrak colors, which I purchased back in 89, and it's never been out of the box! Your Americanisims are quite funny to a 'Limey', I've never heard of Butt to Butt, or Elephant style! but looking at the picture their meaning becomes instantly obvious.

ok i am impressed -i didn't think the Americans liked streamlining-these beasties look v good-they exude power on the pics-like to see and hear first hand
