I don't think it's the curl, I think it's a scanner malady/problem. At any rate, I'm tempted to say it was Southern Rwy, but the 3 digit number makes me wonder. I'll look it up when I can. Thanks for posting!! Hopefully we can find you out and your Grandfathers name. There are many different American railroad databases that have employee's names we could cross reference it with.
