71000 Duke of Gloucester at Dawlish Warren

On the 21st June 2008 BR Standard 4-6-2 71000 Duke of Gloucester passes slowly through Dawlish Warren behind an all stations stopping local train. 71000 was heading for Penzance.
Already running 50 minutes late worse was to come as the unique Pacific was removed at Newton Abbot to a siding on the Torbay line surrounded by 2 support coaches and a diesel.
More will be posted when I find out why.

Comments

Creme de la creme of steam engines as far as I'm concerned.

The loco was failed because a lever broke on a cam follower bits of which then jammed the reverser.
The bits have been removed, the loco moved to Paignton for turning and a nights rest and will return to Bristol tomorrow.
6024 King Edward 1 was supposed to double head this train but was failed earlier in the week when an axle box broke on the tender.
Bad luck all round really!!!
