GNoSR 4-4-0 No. 49 Gordon Highlander

Photographed in atrocious lighting in the Glasgow Transport Museum on 21 July 2008.
Built by the North British Locomotive Co. Ltd., Hyde Park Works, Glasgow in 1920. Weights: Locomotive 48.6 tons, tender 37.4 tons.
Boiler pressure: 165 psi, 2 cylinders 18 in. diameter x 26 in. stroke. Coupled wheels 6 ft. 1 in. diameter.
6 of this class of 8 were built in Glasgow, the other 2 by the GNoSR at Inverurie. No. 49 "The Sojer" was the last of the class to remain in active service and was repainted at Inverurie in 1958 in the old livery used before 1914. She continued to work in regular traffic on Speyside for a time, then on special excursions only until 1965.
