I remember No 7 as Bill Hool used to call her in the 1950s at Top Shed (Kings +)I had the honour of getting a wet shirt with bill on HIS regular Engine.Dirty,Wet, Cold, but Happy days He never used a watch but could tell you exactly where we were day or night, a True Engineman and gentleman
(Long Live STEAM) AND No 7....

That would be the late Bill Hoole (note the spelling), who is celebrated on a web site of his own.

Thanks for the correction on the spelling but it means nothing to me (I knew the man)
He would have been the first to make a comment about your correction. However I take your comment in the spirit intended. I have my Memories of Bill that a good few more I knew at TOP SHED have, and to have Bill Hoole call me a Fireman was praise indeed. I thank you for drawing my attention to his Web Site it is good of you. I am very lucky to have been on the Footplate of no7 with a Great Engineman. I have a recording of I think one of Bill's last trips King+ to Doncaster 1958 recording made on the Footplate (Anyone out there interested?)
