HBA no. 2 diesel shunter cab endPhotographed on 5 July 2009 in the cramped locoshed at Anten, Sweden.
This is a rather unique locomotive for Sweden, only 4 having been used on the Hällefors Bruk AB company's industrial railway. All four were manufactured in 1957 by Krupp in Germany.
HBA had a wide-ranging industrial track network around Hällefors of 742 mm gauge. When HBA expanded their network to include the Hällefors-Fredriksbergs Järnväg (HFJ), they went over to a different gauge of 802 mm.
HBA nos. 1 and 2 were then given to AGJ by Billeruds AB in the 1970s. No. 2, seen here, was rebuilt again to 891 mm gauge, while no.1 was not and remains as a source of spares for no. 2.
HBA no. 2 weighs 22 tons, is 5.7 m long and 2.4 metres wide. The maximum pemitted speed is 40 km/h, and it is powered by a 150 hp diesel engine.
