LION One of if not the oldest working steam locomotive LION built in 1837 for the Liverpool and Manchester Railway seen here at the Rainhill 150 Cavalcade in 1980.
At one time she was on static display in Liverpool's Lime Street station but was moved and stored away in the 1940s. She starred in the Ealing comedy Titfield Thunderbolt in the 1950s.
I think she is again a static display loco in a Liverpool museum nowadays.

"Following a condition survey in 1992 which showed that Lion’s original structure would need substantial modification if she were to be steamed again, the Trustees of National Museums Liverpool decided, on the basis of Lion’s internationally important status, to conserve her for museum display only.
Staff from the National Conservation Centre are currently preparing Lion to go on display in the new Museum of Liverpool. She will go on show there as one of the key exhibits when the museum opens in 2011."
