Rebuilt Battle of Britain Pacific named after the SR's wartime Chairman, at Eastleigh in April 1965 with a Waterloo to Bournemouth semi-fast.

I'm a few miles out- it was actually Basingstoke where I joined to go to Eastleigh!
34090 was given the rather unkind nickname by spotters of Sir Useless..........

I remember eustace missenden at ashford railway works back in the year back in the year 1948 with the old dover road school.Iwas only 15years old at the time.

A genuine Spam Can in those days! It's tragic just how short a working life some of these locos had in rebuilt condition- some only 7 years.
