The hosting costs of websites on this system have historically been covered by advertising. However changes in the way people use the internet, including ad-blocking mean that the revenues no longer cover the expenses. 66's can be found throught Europe there being 624 in all with 446 of these being British.
They have not been without problems. ASLEF once declared them "unfit/unsafe" with no air con, poor seating and high noise levels. In April 2007 they even proposed a ban during the summer months. Indeed research in 2006 did find that in hot weather drivers were more prone to passing red signals. Problems that have since been sorted.
